Every since our 50th reunion, Nan has been trying to get a list of items that Hilo High School would like to have, so that we might choose a gift to give to our alma mater. She finally got the following wish list:
1. Restoration of the old yearbooks in the library.
2. Small P.A. System in the library
3. A new stage for the Homecoming and May Day Court
4. Teleprompter for KVIKS (closed circuit tv station for announcements)
5. A green screen - 20 ft wide X 7 ft. high - for KVIKS - look online at B&H photo
6. Poles (like in banks) to separate sections at commencement
HHS Foundation plans to wire the school for wireless connection.
Approximate cost is $30,000 - $40,000.
After studying the list, Nan and our class treasurer, Alben Namihira, concluded that the most affordable gift which would benefit the most would be the small P.A. System for the library. The remainder of our donation could then be given to the HHS Foundation to help defray the cost of wiring the school.
